Experience
I have experience tutoring kids K-8th grade, but also high school students, since 2012. I have worked previously as a tutor in C2 and Mathnasium, so am comfortable with teaching math (up to calculus BC), biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and statistics. I was also a peer mentor for biology classes at Northwestern from September 2015 to June 2016. I love tutoring and want to take part in my students' lives to not only help them understand and perform better in their classes, but also learn discipline and gain confidence in themselves. In college, I have taken several courses in chemistry, psychology, physics, statistics, and biology (particularly neurobiology) so those are the subjects I feel most comfortable with tutoring! I graduated in June 2017 with a GPA of 3.7 and have been on the Dean's list 6 times. I received a 35 on the ACT, and received scores of 5 on all my AP tests (biology, chemistry, physics, language and composition, statistics, and calculus BC). I also received an 800 on the SAT Math 2 subject test, 750 on the SAT Chemistry subject test, and 780 on the SAT Biology subject test. I also took the MCAT last summer and received a 93rd percentile score, so am qualified to tutor students looking to apply to medical school. NOTE: I live in Vernon Hills and am willing to tutor up to 30 minutes away (will charge no fee for up to 15 minutes away, but have a flat fee if 15-30 minutes away). Hobbies
I've grown up in the Chicagoland area with two siblings that I love goofing off with, and speak Chinese fluently at home. I enjoy running and have so far run a half marathon, but going for a full!! I love reading and watching movies, making tiramisu and other desserts, and playing board games. I also am most passionate about violin, which I have been learning since 5 years old! I am currently pursuing med school, but am currently working in an emergency room at a nearby hospital (and I love it).
